Arm blows x86 out of the water!
Arm CPU - Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus
Apple M3(Arm) vs Windows Arm vs Windows x86 CPU performance comparison.
I picked up a new Lenovo Arm based laptop a few weeks ago.
I used the free edition of Geekbench because it's compiled specifically for each CPU architecture avoiding emulation.
My old MacBook Air M3/16/512 vs. one of my clients new high end Dell XPS 9440 (i7/32GB/4050) vs. my new mid-tier Windows Arm laptop (Snapdragon X Plus/16GB); makes me curious how the Snapdragon Elite would compare to my M3 MacBook.
My new Windows Arm laptop cost significantly less than the others (see below), outperformed the x86 Dell which cost 4x as much and made an impressive showing when compared to the Apple M3 chip.
Power consumption and battery life on both Mac and Windows Arm are significantly better when I compare them to my old x86 laptops.
The OLED screen was a nice touch too, my first one!
The GPU performance was subpar compared to the other two but I have no need for a powerful GPU at this point in my daily life so it's not a deal killer. I'm sure their will be some nice improvements in future iterations of the technology assuming Windows Arm catches on in the industry.
As for stability and real world performance, both native Windows Arm apps and x86 apps running in emulation mode are snappy, responsive and stable. The only problem I've ran into thus far was the networking component of a 10+ year old Brother printer driver bugged out during installation.
Geekbench 6 Results (In order of CPU performance)
Apple MacBook Air M3/16/512 ~ $2500 CPU single core: 3015 CPU multi-core: 11820 GPU (metal): 48725 GPU (OpenCL): 31561
Lenovo Arm – Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus/16 GB Memory ~$750 CPU single core: 2258 CPU multi-core: 10772 GPU (Vulkan): 13647 GPU (OpenCL): 9173
Dell XPS 9440 Core i7/32 GB Memory/4050 RTX GPU ~ $4000 CPU single core: 1327 CPU multi-core: 9071 GPU (Vulkan): 28112 GPU (OpenCL): 53646

A little bit of history
Enermax Galaxy 1000 Watt Power Supply
This bad boy was ahead of its time! I just retired it from my own personal use.
I purchased it back in 2005, it was one of the first 1000 watt power supplies to hit the market (and it's still works!)
